Panchayat Welfare Fund being used suitably – OP Rajbhar

Lucknow: A sum of Rs 56.04 crore has been paid to the dependent families of the elected representatives of a total of 1463 three-tier Panchayats so far directly into the applicant’s bank account. In which assistance amount has been provided to the dependent families of a total of 308 Gram Pradhans, 07 District Panchayat members, 193 Area Panchayat members and 955 Gram Panchayat members.

This information was given by Panchayati Raj Minister  Om Prakash Rajbhar. He informed that in line with the announcement made by the  Chief Minister, from December 16, 2021, in case of death of the elected representatives of the three-tier Panchayat while in office, assistance amount is being provided to the dependents through the Panchayat Welfare Fund, Uttar Pradesh.

The dependent families of the Gram Pradhan, Area Panchayat Chief, District Panchayat President and all the Panchayat members have been included in the Panchayat Welfare Fund. He informed that Uttar Pradesh is the only state in the country where assistance amount is provided to the dependents of Panchayat representatives.

The Panchayati Raj Minister informed that under the Panchayat Welfare Fund, Rs. 10 lakh is provided to the dependent of the Gram Pradhan, Kshetra Panchayat Pramukh, Zila Panchayat Adhyaksh, Rs. 5 lakh to the dependent of Zila Panchayat member, Rs. 3 lakh to the dependent of Kshetra Panchayat member and Rs. 2 lakh to the dependent of Gram Panchayat member. He informed that for providing the sanctioned amount, the applicant can apply online directly at prdfinance.up.gov.in or can contact the Zila Panchayat Raj Adhikari of his district.
