Lucknow: Eighteen students from the Centre of Excellence at Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Girls’ School in Marihan, Mirzapur, have qualified the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), highlighting the success of the Uttar Pradesh Social Welfare Department’s free residential coaching programme for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Congratulating the successful candidates, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Social Welfare Asim Arun said the achievement reflects the students’ hard work, the dedication of their teachers and the department’s commitment to providing quality coaching and educational support.
“The objective of the department is not merely to provide education but to help talented students realise their full potential. I am confident these young women will make both society and the nation proud,” Arun said, extending his best wishes to all the successful candidates.
Director of the Social Welfare Department Sanjeev Singh said the Mirzapur Centre of Excellence has been established to provide free residential coaching for competitive examinations such as JEE and NEET to meritorious students from across the state. The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with Ex Navodayan Foundation, Varanasi, and TATA AIG.
According to the department, 34 students received free residential coaching for the NEET examination. Of these, 31 appeared for the test and 18 successfully qualified, recording an impressive success rate.
The successful candidates are Pooja Ranjan, Shweta Pal, Khushboo, Laxmi Rawat, Malti, Ankita, Anita, Manisha, Premlata, Ankita Kumari, Komal, Sapna, Anshika, Priyanka, Phool Kumari, Anuradha, Khushi and Anchal.
The department noted that the state currently operates 103 Sarvodaya residential schools for students from economically weaker families, offering education from Classes VI to XII. Along with quality schooling, these institutions provide free coaching for competitive examinations such as JEE and NEET, helping talented students from underprivileged communities pursue higher education and professional careers.
Officials said the performance of the Mirzapur Centre of Excellence underscores the state’s efforts to create equal educational opportunities and empower students from disadvantaged backgrounds through structured academic support, mentoring and residential coaching.
