New Delhi: At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon will visit India from March 16 to March 20, 2025, according to a release from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). This will mark Luxon’s first official trip to India in his current role.
During his visit, Luxon will travel to New Delhi and Mumbai before returning to Wellington on March 20. He is scheduled to meet with President Droupadi Murmu and hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Modi on March 17. The discussions will focus on enhancing India-New Zealand relations across various sectors. Following their meeting, Prime Minister Modi will host a luncheon in Luxon’s honor.
Luxon will also be the Chief Guest at the opening session of the 10th Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi on March 17, where he will deliver the keynote address. The Raisina Dialogue is India’s flagship geopolitical and geoeconomic conference, bringing together global leaders and policymakers.
On March 19-20, Luxon will visit Mumbai, where he will engage with representatives from various industries and interact with Indian business executives to explore opportunities for bilateral trade and investment.
Accompanying Luxon will be a high-level delegation comprising ministers, senior officials, business leaders, media representatives, and members of the Indian diaspora in New Zealand. His visit is expected to further strengthen the deep-rooted ties between the two nations and reinforce their commitment to expanding cooperation in key sectors.
“The visit by Prime Minister Luxon highlights the strong and enduring relationship between India and New Zealand. It reaffirms the continued commitment of both countries to deepen people-to-people connections and enhance bilateral relations,” the MEA statement noted.
Luxon’s visit is anticipated to pave the way for expanded collaboration in trade, technology, education, and other key areas, underscoring the growing partnership between India and New Zealand.
