Lucknow: Meerut Mavericks defeated Gorakhpur Lions in every department of the game and won a match of UP T20 League. Playing first at Ekana Stadium, Meerut Mavericks scored 164 runs by losing seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
In reply, the entire team of Gorakhpur Lions was reduced to 116 runs in 19.1 overs and Meerut easily won the match by 48 runs. Yash Garg of Meerut became the player of the match who not only played an unbeaten innings of 26 runs but also forced Gorakhpur to surrender by taking three wickets.
Apart from Yash, Meerut’s Madhav Kaushik (47) and Uvesh Ahmed helped their team to set a challenging score by scoring 37 runs. However, explosive Rinku Singh’s (5) bat remained silent today. Ankit Rajpur and Shivam Sharma of Gorakhpur got two wickets each. Gorakhpur’s batsmen did not show the desire to win even once in the entire match amid Meerut’s tight bowling.
Yashu Pradhan (28), Hardeep Singh (16) and Abhishek Goswami (18) helped Gorakhpur to reach the target at 71 runs for the loss of three wickets at one stage, but Yash Garg, Zeeshan Ansari, Yogendra Doyla and Vijay Kumar’s lethal bowling led to the middle order crumbling cheaply and the remaining task was completed by the tail-enders with their pathetic performance.
