Mumbai: On the second anniversary of Mardaani 2, Rani Mukerji and Yash Raj Films officially announced that the third installment of the Mardaani series, Mardaani 3, is set to begin filming in April 2025. Rani will reprise her iconic role as the fearless police officer, Shivani Shivaji Roy, once again taking on the fight against crime.
Rani expressed her excitement, stating, “I’m excited to announce that we will begin filming Mardaani 3 in April 2025.” She also shared her deep connection with the role, noting that portraying a tough cop who is driven by a deep sense of justice has always been a rewarding experience. She described her portrayal of the character as a tribute to the unsung, courageous police officers who work tirelessly to ensure public safety.
When discussing the project, Rani emphasized the filmmakers’ goal to craft a storyline that would elevate the Mardaani franchise to new heights. She revealed that Mardaani 3 will be intense and gritty, describing the film as “violent, deadly, and dark.” Rani is eager to see the audience’s reaction to the film, hoping they will embrace it with the same love and enthusiasm as they did for the earlier parts of the series.
The screenplay for Mardaani 3 is penned by Aayush Gupta, known for his work on The Railway Men, while Abhiraj Minawala, a seasoned YRF associate director who has contributed to major films like Band Baaja Baarat, Sultan, and Tiger 3, will direct the film.
