Major Boost to Religious Tourism in Rohilkhand as Projects Worth Over ₹52 Crore Launched in Bareilly and Badaun

Bareilly: Religious and spiritual tourism in the Rohilkhand region received a major push as Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for tourism development projects worth more than ₹52 crore in Bareilly and Badaun.

The large-scale initiatives aim to strengthen religious tourism infrastructure, improve facilities for pilgrims, and promote cultural heritage sites across the two districts.

Addressing a public gathering in Bareilly, the minister said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging as one of the country’s leading centres for religious tourism. He stated that improved law and order and better governance have helped create a positive environment for tourism growth, benefiting local economies and generating employment opportunities.

Projects Inaugurated in Bareilly

In Bareilly, projects worth ₹327.56 lakh were inaugurated to promote tourism at important religious sites. These included development works at Shri Khurafat Dham in Mudia Ahmed Nagar, an ancient Shiva temple in Sampatpur village of Mirganj, and Bhagwan Shiva Temple in Nawabganj.

The projects included the construction of ghats, toilet blocks, interlocking roads, lighting systems, solar lights, entrance gates, railings, benches, sound systems, and beautification works aimed at improving facilities for devotees and visitors.

Foundation Stone Laid for 14 New Projects

The Tourism Minister also laid the foundation stone for 14 tourism projects in Bareilly worth over ₹22.53 crore under the 2025–26 development plan.

Key projects include eco-tourism development at Leelaur Lake and Dhilwari Ancient Ram Katora Tal, integrated tourism development of Ahichhatra, and the construction of a Mahabharata-themed Draupadi Swayamvar Park.

Several religious sites including Gauri Shankar Temple, Bada Bagh Hanuman Temple, Shri Ram Janaki Temple, Trivati Nath Temple, Anand Ashram Temple, Chainpur Sirohi Temple, Shri Purnagiri Shiva Temple, Thakurji Temple, Pahlau Nath Temple, ancient Shiva Temple at Sisaiya Maganpur, and Chitragupt Temple will also undergo tourism development and beautification works.

Officials said the projects will provide modern facilities for pilgrims and tourists while strengthening Bareilly’s position on the religious tourism map of Uttar Pradesh.

Review of Nath Corridor Projects

During his visit, Jaiveer Singh also reviewed ongoing development works under the Nath Corridor project, estimated to cost over ₹60 crore. He inspected the progress of additional tourism-related schemes worth nearly ₹10 crore and instructed officials to ensure timely completion while maintaining quality standards.

Major Tourism Projects in Badaun

Following the Bareilly programme, the Tourism Minister visited Badaun, where he inaugurated four tourism projects worth ₹410.93 lakh. The projects include development and beautification works at Ganga Devi Maiya Temple, Durga Devi Bhawan Temple in Rudayan Nagar Panchayat, Pari Mata Temple in Dharmpur Sarera, and Mata Malai Devi Temple.

The upgraded facilities include pilgrim rest houses, interlocking pathways, LED lighting systems, toilet blocks, and improved seating arrangements for visitors.

Six New Projects Worth ₹22.36 Crore Announced

The minister also laid the foundation stone for six tourism development projects in Badaun worth over ₹22.36 crore.

These include development works at Sahasrabahu pilgrimage site in Sahaswan, the ancient Shiva temple at Tapo Siddh Baba Ki Madhi, Baba Devasdas Temple, Shri Ramchandra Virajman Temple at Kanderchauk, Bahadur Singh Hanuman Baba Ashram in Bisauli, and the major tourism development project at Kachhla Ganga Ghat.

Among these, nearly ₹17.92 crore will be spent on developing Kachhla Ganga Ghat with modern tourism infrastructure and enhanced public facilities.

The Tourism Minister said the projects are aimed at preserving heritage, improving pilgrim amenities, and creating new opportunities for local tourism and economic growth across the Rohilkhand region.
