Mahakumbh Nagar: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, addressing a ceremony marking the formal conclusion of Mahakumbh 2025, launched a scathing attack on the opposition. He asserted that nowhere else in the world had such a grand event been organized, yet detractors left no stone unturned in their attempts to spread misinformation.
66 Crore Devotees Witness a Historic and Crime-Free Event
The Chief Minister stated, “Mahakumbh saw a staggering participation of 66 crore 30 lakh devotees, yet not a single incident of kidnapping, robbery, molestation, or assault was reported.” He criticized the opposition, saying, “Not even with telescopes and microscopes could they find any such incident.”
Yogi Adityanath further highlighted that on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, 8 crore devotees arrived in Prayagraj. The government’s top priority was to ensure a safe and seamless experience for all pilgrims. Despite this, the opposition continued its campaign of misinformation and derogatory remarks about the event.
Allegations of Spreading False Information
The Chief Minister accused certain groups of attempting to malign Prayagraj by circulating unrelated visuals from Cairo. He acknowledged that an unfortunate incident occurred on the night of January 28-29 during Mauni Amavasya, for which the government extended its condolences. However, he emphasized that linking events from Cairo and Kathmandu to Prayagraj was a deliberate attempt to tarnish Mahakumbh’s reputation.
He added that the public had rejected such propaganda and demonstrated their faith by arriving in record numbers, proving that they would not be swayed by misleading narratives.
PM Modi Praises Mahakumbh’s Cleanliness and Security
Yogi Adityanath mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently lauded Mahakumbh’s remarkable cleanliness and security arrangements. He said, “All our government departments and personnel treated this event as their own, working tirelessly to make it grand and successful.”
Special Plans and Facilities for Mahakumbh
The Chief Minister referenced Mahārṣi Ved Vyās’s ancient wisdom that following the path of righteousness leads to prosperity and fulfillment. He commended the people of Prayagraj for embodying this principle.
Highlighting infrastructural developments, he spoke about the construction of Shivalaya Park by Prayagraj Municipal Corporation, which resulted in significant financial gains. “Now that the event has concluded, we must set new benchmarks in cleanliness,” he remarked.
To maintain hygiene in the Mahakumbh area, a special 15-day cleanliness drive has been initiated. Yogi Adityanath personally participated in the campaign by sweeping the premises and urged citizens to join the movement.
Major Announcements for Sanitation and Healthcare Workers
In a significant move, the Chief Minister announced an additional bonus of ₹10,000 for all sanitation workers involved in Mahakumbh. Furthermore, he declared that starting April, every sanitation worker would receive a monthly salary of ₹16,000 under a newly formed corporation.
Additionally, he assured that sanitation and healthcare workers would be covered under a minimum wage policy and provided health insurance of up to ₹5 lakh.
Commitment to Enhancing Religious Sites
CM Yogi criticized previous governments for neglecting India’s religious heritage, stating that the current administration had reversed this trend. He highlighted the seamless blend of spirituality and economic progress in cities like Kashi, Ayodhya, Mathura-Vrindavan, and Chitrakoot.
He also detailed newly developed religious circuits, including:
- Kashi Vishwanath to Vindhyavasini Dham
- Ayodhya to Gorakhpur
- Prayagraj to Shringerpur via Lucknow and Naimisharanya
- Prayagraj to Vrindavan via Bundelkhand Expressway
Gratitude for the Success of Mahakumbh
Yogi Adityanath expressed deep gratitude to the Indian and state governments, local authorities, and all involved departments for making Mahakumbh a historic success. He specifically thanked the residents of Prayagraj for their unwavering commitment to welcoming devotees and saints with warmth.
“The people of Uttar Pradesh have wholeheartedly embraced pilgrims and saints, and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to them all,” the Chief Minister concluded.
