Bareilly: Bareilly Police have arrested six people for their alleged involvement in a cyber fraud network suspected of handling financial transactions worth more than ₹25 crore over the past three years. The investigation has revealed links to 60 bank accounts allegedly used for transactions involving online gaming platforms and cryptocurrency.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Brajesh (27), Harish Singh (25), Sumer (25), Akash (37), Vipul Kumar Singh (21) and Pintu (23). All six are residents of Khatoli village in the Bhuta area of Bareilly.
Superintendent of Police (South) Anshika Verma said the accused allegedly opened bank accounts and obtained mobile connections using forged or misused identity documents, including Aadhaar and PAN cards. These accounts were subsequently used to route suspected proceeds from online gaming and cryptocurrency-related activities.
According to investigators, the network allegedly lured individuals with promises of quick financial returns through online gaming and cryptocurrency investments. The accused reportedly purchased digital currencies, resold them at higher prices and converted cryptocurrency into Indian currency.
Police suspect that the operation was being coordinated by a key handler who had established connections with a wider network involving thousands of young people across different parts of the country. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the alleged mastermind.
Cash, Gold and Banking Documents Recovered
During the operation, police recovered ₹4.97 lakh in cash, six gold biscuits weighing a total of 60 grams and 20 smartphones.

Other seized materials included 25 bank passbooks, 30 chequebooks, 44 debit and credit cards, 18 land-related documents, Aadhaar and PAN cards, a thumb scanner and a banking QR machine.
Investigators also reported that approximately ₹10 lakh had been placed on hold. Some bank accounts associated with the suspected network had reportedly been frozen earlier by police in other states.
Investigation Extended to Other States
An FIR has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Online Gaming Act, 2025.
Police are examining the financial trail, identifying other suspected associates and investigating the network’s connections beyond Uttar Pradesh. Efforts are also being made to establish the alleged handler’s role and determine the extent of the operation.
The investigation is continuing to establish the complete scale of the suspected cyber fraud and identify others who may have facilitated the transactions.
