Lucknow | Ten days after the discovery of a young man’s body stuffed in a sack under the Vikramnagar overbridge near the vegetable market in Para, Lucknow Police are still struggling to identify the victim. Based on a complaint filed by the Hanskhera police outpost in-charge, a murder case has been registered at Para police station against unidentified persons.
To aid identification, police have circulated printed posters featuring the deceased’s photographs across public places in and around the area.
Inspector Suresh Singh said that CCTV footage from cameras installed near the scene and adjacent areas has been thoroughly reviewed, but no concrete lead has emerged so far. Investigators suspect that the perpetrators may be locals familiar with the area, as the secluded spot chosen for disposing of the body would likely be known only to someone with local criminal knowledge.
The Para police have begun scrutinizing the criminal records of habitual offenders from three nearby police station jurisdictions. Officers also believe that the deceased might belong to another state, which is making identification difficult. Efforts to trace his identity are also being made through social media platforms.

According to reports, the body of a man aged around 30 was found on October 15 under the Vikramnagar overbridge near the vegetable market. The man’s mouth was sealed with tape, and his hands, feet, and neck were tied with a rope. The post-mortem examination confirmed that he had been strangled to death.
As no one came forward to claim the body, police performed the final rites 72 hours after recovery, following due legal procedures. Investigations are ongoing to identify both the victim and the culprits involved in the gruesome murder.
