Lucknow: The Chemical Pathology section under the Department of Pathology at King George’s Medical University underwent a two-day assessment on May 16 and 17, 2026, as part of the fifth cycle of NABL accreditation under ISO 15189:2022 standards for clinical biochemistry and immunoassay markers.
The assessment was conducted by a team from Delhi comprising experts from leading medical institutions, who carried out a detailed review of the laboratory’s quality systems, documentation processes, technical competence, patient safety measures and reporting standards.
The opening session was chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Soniya Nityanand in the presence of senior faculty members, including Head of the Department of Pathology Prof. Suresh Babu, Prof. Rashmi Kushwaha, Prof. Wahid Ali, Prof. Mili Jain, Dr. Pooja Sharma, along with technical staff and members of the assessment team.

During the evaluation, the assessors examined several critical aspects of laboratory functioning such as internal quality control systems, external quality assurance practices, instrumentation, staff competency, sample management procedures and adherence to NABL guidelines.
The Chemical Pathology laboratory has consistently focused on maintaining high standards in diagnostic services and ensuring reliable reporting to support effective patient care and healthcare delivery. The assessment concluded successfully with constructive observations and recommendations aimed at further strengthening the laboratory’s quality services and operational excellence.
