Kashi Darshan Takes Flight: Helicopter Tours to Begin from Namo Ghat, Divine Dev Deepawali View from the Sky

Varanasi: Pilgrims and tourists visiting Kashi will soon be able to witness the grandeur of the Ganga ghats, temples, and world-famous Ganga Aarti from the sky. Just ahead of Dev Deepawali, Varanasi is set to launch helicopter sightseeing services, offering a breathtaking aerial view of the ancient city.

All surveys, safety checks and technical trials have been completed. The company operating the service has finished all formalities with the Babatpur Airport Authority and is awaiting final approval.

Flights to Begin from Namo Ghat

According to officials of the operating company, Namo Ghat’s newly built helipad will serve as the starting point of the aerial tours. Both 3-seater and 6-seater helicopters will be used.

Duration: 7–8 minutes per ride

During the flight, tourists will get a bird’s-eye view of:
Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham
Manikarnika Ghat
Harishchandra Ghat
All major ghats along the Ganga
Godowlia area
Chowk

Ramnagar Bridge

 Safety Hurdles Resolved

Initially, there were obstructions due to **HT (High Tension) electrical lines and other technical issues, but these have now been resolved. The helicopter project was proposed to Smart City, District Administration and Tourism Department, and received the green signal, allowing work to progress rapidly.

An official said the fare has not yet been finalized, but bookings will be done online. A meeting with departmental officers is scheduled this week to decide and announce the ticket price.

 A Boost to ‘Sky Tourism’

A tourism department officer stated,
“This initiative will establish Varanasi as a new hub of ‘Sky Tourism’. It will greatly benefit local employment and the tourism industry.”

With millions visiting Kashi during Dev Deepawali, the city aims to offer a unique spiritual and visual experience never seen before.

Satyendra Kumar, District Magistrate, Varanasi, said: “We have received the proposal for helicopter services and testing is being conducted. Once the service begins, it will definitely boost tourism. Visitors will get a new and incredible way to experience Kashi.”
