The above views were expressed by Professor (Dr.) Gurinder Singh, educationist, life coach and Group Vice Chancellor of Amity University Group, who has received many national and international honors including the Ambassador of Peace Award for his contribution in the field of higher education. Pro. Gurinder was speaking as the chief guest at the Open House program organized by Amity University Lucknow campus.
The Open House event was organized to discuss with parents, students, and education experts on what is the right path for higher education after class 12. Under this, the curiosities and questions arising in the minds of students and parents regarding higher education were resolved. More than 300 students and their parents from many reputed schools of Lucknow participated in this program.
In his address, Professor (Dr.) Gurinder Singh said that the pressure of getting high marks percentage is not beneficial for the child in any way. He said that today in India after graduation one gets an average job worth thirty thousand rupees. And the parents are snatching the smile from the faces of their children for these thirty thousand rupees. He said that in real life, proficiency in life skills is more important for success than marks.
Praising the new education policy brought by the Government of India, Shri Singh said that the new education policy supports the Global Study Program in the undergraduate curriculum. Under this course, the student completes a part of the undergraduate course in any other renowned university of the world. This not only gives the student international experience but is also able to develop the skills to settle in different cultures, environment and surroundings.
Describing about Amity University, Shri Singh said that Amity is the only university in the country to fully implemented the new education policy. Its Three Continents Study Program gives students the opportunity to study at the international universities of their choice.
Before this, welcoming the chief guest, Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor, Amity University Lucknow Campus, Wing Commander Anil Tiwari (retired) said that to do big work in life, one should dream big. He said that if we want the country to become a five trillion economic superpower, then our youth will also have to make this dream their goal.
On this occasion all the Heads of departments including Dean Academics, Amity University Lucknow Campus Professor Dr. Rajesh Kumar Tiwari, Director Amity Institute of Information Technology Brigadier Umesh Chopra were present and participated in the programme.
During this, the students saw the Amity Lucknow campus spread over 40 acres and its various departments and got information about them. The students especially learned about Amity’s world-class library, auditorium and Journalism Department, Photography Lab, Engineering Department, IT Department and Computer Lab etc. In this sequence, he also got information about the courses run by Amity University.
