Governor’s House Celebrates Odisha State Foundation Day at Raj Bhavan

LUCKNOW: Inspired by the guidance of Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, the Foundation Day of Odisha was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Gandhi Sabhagar of Raj Bhavan. The event was marked by a special exhibition aimed at showcasing Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, featuring traditional food, attire, historic sites, eminent personalities, and folk traditions of the state. The exhibition also highlighted the grandeur of Odisha’s arts and culture through intricate Rangoli displays, while a special documentary introduced guests to the state’s illustrious traditions and historical heritage.

During the program, artists presented Odisha’s cultural legacy through a series of captivating performances. Classical Odissi dance, folk dances such as Dalkhai, Dhap, Samaleshwari Vandana, Rangbati, and Banjania mesmerized the audience with their charm, effectively reflecting the grandeur of Odisha’s cultural traditions. The event offered attendees an opportunity to experience Odisha’s rich heritage, connecting them with the state’s cultural significance.

On this occasion, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Governor, Dr. Sudhir Mahadev Bobde, read out a message from the Governor,  Anandiben Patel.

Governor’s Message:

“On the occasion of Odisha State Foundation Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all of you. It is a moment of immense joy for me that this historic celebration is being held here at the Raj Bhavan.”

“This land, known as Kalinga and Utkal, is where Lord Jagannath resides. Odisha’s diversity, coupled with the dedication and hard work of its people, has brought the state to new heights of development. Whether it is in art, literature, science, education, or sports, Odisha has always strived to excel with its strength and commitment.”

“Odisha is a state rich in art, culture, and architecture. Its Odissi dance is world-renowned, while its exquisite handicrafts, wood and stone carvings, and breathtaking tourist destinations like the Konark Sun Temple, Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, and Jagannath Temple in Puri are iconic cultural landmarks.”

“Every state in India has its unique features, enriched by its geographic and natural diversity. India’s unity is fostered by its diverse languages, cultures, and philosophies. The idea of ‘Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat’ envisioned by our honorable Prime Minister  Narendra Modi aims to celebrate the cultural uniqueness of each state, strengthen cultural exchanges, and promote better understanding and harmony.”

“Our country celebrates its diversity. We rejoice in different languages, arts, and traditions, and these events only strengthen our unity. Through such programs, we honor the dreams of thousands of freedom fighters and great leaders who aspired for a united India.”

“Foundation Day celebrations across states offer a chance for people to learn about and appreciate each other’s cultural legacies, fostering mutual understanding and national unity. Such events exemplify the spirit of unity in diversity that is the essence of India.”

“Odisha is moving forward with progress and development. On February 3, 2024, our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated projects worth over ₹68,000 crores in Sambalpur. Further investments of over ₹25,000 crores have been made in the mining sector, and on March 5, 2024,  Modi laid the foundation stone for several development projects worth ₹19,600 crores in Chandikhole.”

“On September 17, 2024, the largest women-centered initiative, ‘Subhadra,’ was launched in Bhubaneswar. These projects are accelerating the state’s growth, and I wish Odisha continued progress.”

“I extend my best wishes to the people of Odisha on this significant day and hope that the state continues its journey of development.”

At the event, artists captivated the audience with mesmerizing performances of Odisha’s classical and folk dance forms, such as Odissi, Dalkhai, Dhap, Rangbati, and others. These artistic expressions vividly reflected the state’s rich cultural heritage and its glorious traditions.

The celebration was attended by several notable figures, including GB Patnaik, President of the Odia Society of Lucknow,  DR Sahu, Secretary of the Odia Society of Lucknow,  SN Sabet, President of the UP Subordinate Services Selection Board, renowned Odissi dancer  Miradas, and other distinguished guests such as Dr. Somik Behera, Dean of Lucknow University, Prof. Sangeeta Sahu, and other dignitaries from across various fields.

This grand occasion at Raj Bhavan provided a wonderful platform to honor and celebrate the vibrant culture and traditions of Odisha, reinforcing the importance of unity and cultural diversity in India.
