Lucknow: Shobhan Choudhury, General Manager, Northern Railway reviewed the progress of work of Northern Railway with the Divisional Heads and Divisional Railway Managers of Northern Railway. The issues like enhancement of mobility and other developmental works and freight loading were discussed in the review meeting. Northern Railway has maintained a good record of punctuality and has laid special emphasis on the punctuality of trains.
He informed that safety is the priority of Northern Railway. He reviewed the maintenance standards of tracks, welds and the works done by the zone for removal of scrap lying near the tracks. He further informed that mobility is another important area which needs regular and strict monitoring. He directed the zones to expedite the works related to enhancement of mobility and to conduct campaigns to check the progress of the works. He emphasized on enhancing safety during the ongoing monsoon season and directed to make every possible effort to eliminate the bottlenecks in rail operations.
Shobhan Choudhury emphasized on minimizing human errors in rail operations. He directed the Divisional Heads and Divisional Railway Managers to further improve the punctuality of trains and maintain the speed of freight loading while giving priority to safety. He further said that the increase in freight loading is a proof that Northern Railway is committed to providing cost effective transportation to its customers. The General Manager also reviewed the progress of works to increase the speed limit of trains from 130 kmph to 160 kmph on New Delhi-Howrah and New Delhi-Mumbai rail routes.
