Gorakhpur: UP CM Yogi Adityanath said that timely police recruitment, improved training systems, and enhanced infrastructure since 2017 have significantly strengthened the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, creating what he described as a “model of good governance.”
The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering after inaugurating two modern security buildings constructed for the safety of the Gorakhnath Temple area in Gorakhpur. Built at a cost exceeding ₹9.18 crore, the new facilities include offices for the Additional Superintendent of Police and Deputy Superintendent of Police, a control room, police store, and a maintenance workshop. He also inspected the infrastructure and reviewed the available facilities.
Emphasizing the importance of security, Adityanath said, “Security is the first condition of good governance. Every citizen deserves safety, and it is the government’s responsibility to ensure it.” He noted that earlier governments failed to focus on recruitment, training, and infrastructure, which discouraged youth from joining the police force.
Highlighting the transformation in the police department over the past nine years, the Chief Minister said that more than 2.19 lakh personnel have been recruited since 2017. He added that while training capacity was limited to around 3,000 personnel at a time earlier, it has now expanded to nearly 60,000 due to improved infrastructure and timely decision-making.

Adityanath also pointed out the lack of proper residential facilities for police personnel in the past. “There were no adequate barracks or housing in police stations, lines, or PAC units. Many personnel had to live in rented accommodations under difficult circumstances,” he said, adding that the government has now addressed these issues by providing housing and modern barracks across police establishments.
The Chief Minister asserted that improved infrastructure has empowered the police to function more effectively. “Earlier, there were instances where criminals escaped due to lack of proper holding facilities. Today, police stations are equipped to securely detain offenders, and personnel are always present in sufficient numbers,” he said. He further warned that any attempt to breach security at police stations would be dealt with firmly.
Several dignitaries, including Mayor Dr. Manglesh Srivastava, MLC Dr. Dharmendra Singh, MLAs Vipin Singh, Mahendra Pal Singh, Pradeep Shukla, and Sarvan Nishad, along with senior officials such as ADG Gorakhpur Zone Mutha Ashok Jain and ADG Security Tarun Gaba, were present at the event.
