Lucknow: A special theatre workshop was organised at Valmiki Park in Takrohi under the ‘Chabutra Theatre Pathshala’ initiative run by Mother Seva Sansthan, where children received practical training in acting and stage performance.
The workshop was conducted by theatre trainer Mahesh Chand Deva, who introduced children to the fundamentals of drama and acting while explaining the importance of theatre as a medium of creativity, expression and social awareness.
Sharing details about the programme, institution president Kiran Lata said intensive rehearsals were held for the upcoming play “Humein Nasht Na Karo” (Do Not Destroy Us), which focuses on spreading awareness about environmental and wildlife conservation.
During the rehearsal sessions, children portrayed different forest animals and enthusiastically performed their roles by adopting animal expressions, body language and sounds. Organisers said the workshop helped children improve their confidence, creativity and stage presence while also sensitising them towards environmental issues.
Kiran Lata further informed that the plays being prepared under the Chabutra Theatre Pathshala will be staged during the upcoming three-day Chabutra Theatre Festival scheduled to be held on June 11, 12 and 13.

The theatre festival will be organised at the auditorium of the International Buddhist Research Institute in Gomti Nagar and is expected to showcase performances by children associated with the initiative.
According to organisers, the primary objective of the theatre school is to nurture the creative talent of children from underprivileged sections of society and provide them with a meaningful platform to express themselves through theatre and performing arts.
The workshop concluded with appreciation for the enthusiasm, dedication and performances of the participating children.
