CDRI Alumni Association and CSIR-CDRI, Lucknow organized Science Outreach Programme for participants of SAMARTH 2.0 Internship Initiative of ASSOCHAM UP-UK

CDRI Alumni Association with its alma mater CSIR-CDRI, Lucknow inspired Young Minds through Science Outreach Programme

Lucknow: CDRI Alumni Association, with its alma mater CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR-CDRI), Lucknow, organized a Science Outreach Programme today to provide students with an opportunity to interact with scientists and gain exposure to research and innovation.

The program was organized under the mentorship of CSIR-CDRI Director and Patron, CDRI Alumni Association, Dr Radha Rangarajan. CDRI Alumni Association President, Dr Madhu Dikshit and Secretary Dr Sanjay Batra informed that the CDRI Alumni association is committed to organize various program with its Alma-mater to connect the stakeholders with the institute for inculcation of scientific temperament. In this context this is the first Science Outreach Program by CDRI Alumni Association.

As part of the programme, 16 participants of SAMARTH 2.0 Internship Programme, an initiative of ASSOCHAM UP-UK visited CSIR-CDRI. The internship programme which is being organized for undergraduate and postgraduate students of UPES, Dehradun, Chandigarh University and from other universities in Lucknow.

Chairperson, Training & Internship Committee, ASSOCHAM, UP-UK,  Pradeep Singh told that under this initiative, ASSOCHAM UP-UK is engaging with industries, government departments, and higher educational institutions to provide students with practical exposure to real-world working environments. Through visits and expert interactions, students will get an opportunity to understand how various departments and organization’s function, learn about impactful research and development activities, and gain insights into Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The programme is useful for students to explore future career opportunities in government departments, research organizations, academic institutions, and industry. Such interactions are expected to bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional practice while encouraging students to pursue careers in science, research, and public service.

The visit was highly interactive, and the students expressed keen interest in learning about ongoing scientific work at CSIR-CDRI. The programme concluded with a discussion on the importance of scientific temper, innovation, and skill development in shaping the next generation of researchers and professionals.
