Jaunpur: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Uttar Pradesh government during his visit to Jaunpur on Monday. He was in the district to pay tribute to the late Dharmaraj Yadav, husband of former block chief Mrs. Sarjudei.
While addressing the media, Yadav strongly opposed the recently introduced Waqf Amendment Bill, announcing that his party would challenge it in the Supreme Court. “This government is not working effectively on any front,” he said.
He further alleged that the state is witnessing a surge in fake police encounters. “People are being killed in the name of encounters,” he claimed, criticizing the law-and-order situation under the current administration.
Touching upon the issue of electricity, Yadav accused the state government of merely installing meters while making electricity costlier for the common people. He also highlighted the achievements of the previous Samajwadi Party government, stating that the laptops distributed during their tenure were still proving useful to students.
On the contentious issue of ‘One Nation, One Election’, Yadav challenged the ruling BJP to conduct simultaneous elections across Uttar Pradesh. He also cited the recent incident in Bareilly, accusing the police of misusing their authority by filing and acting on cases unilaterally.
Yadav didn’t hold back on the subject of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) either. Referencing former U.S. President Donald Trump, he reiterated his suspicion that the machines could be manipulated.
Looking ahead to the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Yadav confidently predicted the downfall of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “The BJP will be wiped out completely,” he asserted.
