Gonda DM Celebrates Birth of Baby Girl at District Hospital, Names Newborn ‘Anugrahita’

Gonda: In a heartwarming initiative to promote the dignity and empowerment of girls, Gonda District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan celebrated the birth of a baby girl at the District Hospital Medical College by participating in a special Kanya Janmotsav ceremony.

The event was organised in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department’s labour wing and maternity ward to spread awareness about the importance of valuing daughters and encouraging a positive social outlook towards the birth of girl children.

The District Magistrate visited the hospital to congratulate Poonam Devi, a resident of Basiya Chain village, and her husband Dinesh Kumar, on the birth of their daughter. Joining the family in the celebrations, she cut a cake to mark the occasion and extended her best wishes to the newborn and her parents.

Addressing the gathering, Priyanka Niranjan said that daughters are an invaluable asset to families, society and the nation. She emphasised that ensuring equal opportunities, quality education and a safe environment for girls is a collective responsibility. She also encouraged the family to remain committed to providing the child with proper care, education and a bright future.

At the request of the family, the District Magistrate named the newborn “Anugrahita.” The family expressed happiness over the name and thanked her for the thoughtful gesture.

As a token of blessings, the District Magistrate presented the newborn with a silver bowl and spoon. She also provided financial assistance to the child’s mother, Poonam Devi, reflecting the district administration’s commitment to supporting families and promoting the welfare of girl children.

The celebration created a festive atmosphere at the hospital, with doctors, healthcare workers and officials joining in to congratulate the family and wish the infant a healthy and prosperous life. The event also reinforced the message of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign and highlighted the importance of celebrating the birth of daughters with pride and joy.

Among those present were Medical College Principal Dr. Anil Tiwari, District Hospital Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Anil Tiwari, District Probation Officer Gaurav Mishra, along with other officials, doctors, healthcare personnel and hospital staff, who reaffirmed their commitment to the welfare, education and empowerment of girls.
