Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) National President and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of weakening democratic institutions out of “political arrogance” and promoting division in society for electoral gains.
Addressing party workers at the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Auditorium at the SP state headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav said that the BJP does not believe in the Constitution or democracy and is using power to spread hatred and divide communities.
“The BJP is working with an agenda to break society. It survives on spreading division and fear. Samajwadi Party is fighting to save democracy,” he said, adding that the strength of the PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) alliance would defeat the ruling party’s strategies.
Yadav urged party leaders and workers to intensify their efforts, saying the political goal ahead is significant and requires “relentless hard work.” He said the SP must remain alert to what he described as BJP’s “lies, vote manipulation, and conspiracies,” and actively expose them before the public.
Accusing the BJP of misusing power, Yadav said the party misleads citizens while prioritising policies that benefit large industrialists. “Economic policies are shaped in favour of big businesses, while common people suffer from inflation and economic pressure,” he said.
He further alleged that the BJP engages in character assassination politics against SP leadership and avoids implementing genuine women’s empowerment measures. Referring to the Women’s Reservation Bill, Yadav said that while SP has always supported women’s reservation, it insists that benefits should reach women from all sections, including OBCs, Dalits, and minorities.
He reiterated the party’s long-standing demand for a caste-based census, saying it is necessary to ensure fair representation and reservation for all marginalised groups.

“The Samajwadi Party believes in the Constitution and democracy 100 percent. We stand for social harmony, equality, and dignity for all,” he said.
Yadav also criticised BJP’s social policies, claiming they are against the interests of PDA communities. He said the party supports economic decentralisation and inclusive governance.
Expressing confidence in the party’s future, he said the BJP government would not survive beyond 2027. “The strength of PDA will ensure the BJP government does not last. A Samajwadi Party government will ensure justice for all,” he added.
The meeting was attended by several party leaders and workers from different districts of Uttar Pradesh, who discussed organisational strategies and future political plans.
