Raebareli: All India Institute of Medical Sciences Raebareli inaugurated a 10-day summer camp for children of institute employees and also performed the foundation stone ceremony for a new hostel for nursing and paramedical students on Monday.
The summer camp, which began on May 18 and will continue till May 27, was inaugurated by Executive Director Prof. Amita Jain. The initiative has been organised by the institute’s crèche committee under the guidance of Prof. Sunita Singh, Head of the Department of Paediatric Surgery.
The camp is being conducted in collaboration with the team of Little Riders Play School, which is coordinating with the crèche committee to provide children with engaging and memorable learning experiences.
During the inaugural programme, Prof. Amita Jain, Deputy Director (Administration) Colonel Akhilesh Singh and Financial Advisor Colonel Upendra Nath Rai distributed sweets among the children and encouraged their participation.
The summer camp features a variety of activities including science experiments, drawing sessions, STEAM-based learning, craft workshops, pottery and pool parties. Organisers said the activities are aimed at promoting creativity, teamwork and interactive learning among children while providing a fun and educational environment.
The institute administration described the camp as an important initiative for the holistic development and creative expression of children.
In another major development, AIIMS Raebareli also performed the bhoomi pujan for the construction of a new girls’ hostel for nursing and paramedical students within the institute campus.

The hostel project is being developed under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of NTPC Unchahar at an estimated cost of approximately ₹13.99 crore. The construction work is being executed by Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Corporation Limited under the supervision of Executive Engineer Y.P. Singh.
According to officials, the proposed S+7 hostel building will have 65 double-occupancy rooms with accommodation capacity for 130 students. The hostel will include modern facilities such as common rooms, recreation areas, internet connectivity and security arrangements.
The ceremony was attended by Prof. Amita Jain, NTPC Unchahar Project Head Biswa Mohan Singh, Colonel Akhilesh Singh, Colonel U.N. Rai, AMS Neeraj Kumar Srivastava, senior faculty members, administrative officers, students, staff members and representatives of the executing agency.
The engineering department of AIIMS Raebareli played a key role in planning, coordination and execution of the project. Several engineering officials, including Superintending Engineer Harish Kumar Yadav, Executive Engineer (Civil) Chhatrapal, Executive Engineer (Electrical) Vishal Singh and Assistant Engineer (Civil) Suraj Kumar Vishwakarma, were also present during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Amita Jain said the hostel project marks an important step towards strengthening the institute’s academic and residential infrastructure. She added that AIIMS Raebareli remains committed to providing a safe, inclusive and student-centric environment for nursing and paramedical students, while also appreciating the CSR support extended by NTPC Unchahar and the dedicated efforts of the engineering and executing teams.
