Bareilly: The monthly meeting of the District Trade Facilitation Committee was held at the Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of Additional District Magistrate (City) Saurabh Dubey on Saturday. The meeting addressed several concerns raised by members of the local business community, with officials directed to take prompt action.
Traders highlighted the absence of essential signage boards at multiple locations by the Public Works Department (PWD), warning that the lapse could lead to frequent accidents. Taking serious note of the issue, the ADM expressed displeasure with the Executive Engineer of the PWD and instructed that proper signage be installed at all required locations with immediate effect.
Another concern was raised regarding notices issued by the Municipal Corporation to certain shopkeepers. Traders pointed out that the notices failed to clearly specify the extent of encroachment related to their shops or establishments. In response, the ADM directed the Municipal Corporation to thoroughly examine the matter and ensure that all notices carry clear and precise details before any enforcement action is taken.
The meeting also saw discussions on the ongoing road construction project under the CM Grid Scheme, particularly the stretch from Kohadapir to Kudesia Gate. Traders alleged that while the proposed road width is approximately 18 metres, the Municipal Corporation has been issuing notices based on a 27-metre width derived from a 1920 map, which they termed irregular. The ADM instructed officials to investigate the discrepancy and proceed in accordance with rules.

Officials from the Municipal Corporation, Police Department, Traffic Department, along with representatives of the trade community, were present at the meeting.
