Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s security should be reviewed impartially and strengthened if required, said socialist leader Anil Yadav, urging the government and security agencies to treat the matter with seriousness and sensitivity.
Anil Yadav said Akhilesh Yadav is not only the national president of the Samajwadi Party but also a former chief minister and a prominent opposition leader. His security, he said, should not be viewed through a political lens but assessed on the basis of a professional threat analysis and established security protocols.
He pointed out that Akhilesh Yadav frequently interacts directly with people at public meetings and other events, where large crowds can pose additional security challenges. Effective crowd management, regulated entry and exit, emergency arrangements and coordination among security agencies are essential to ensure the safety of both the leader and the public.
Anil Yadav said the effectiveness of a security arrangement cannot be determined merely by its category. Any decision on additional protection, including demands for a particular security cover, should be based on an assessment by the competent agencies and the applicable rules.
He urged the government to ensure regular security reviews, timely action on credible threat inputs and coordination among the authorities concerned. He also stressed that political differences between the ruling party and the opposition must not influence security-related decisions.
According to Anil Yadav, protecting elected representatives and prominent public figures is an important responsibility. He said any shortcomings identified during a review should be addressed without delay, adding that security arrangements must allow public representatives to interact with citizens while maintaining effective protection.
