Bareilly: The Indian Council of Agricultural Research–Indian Veterinary Research Institute (ICAR-IVRI), Izatnagar, Bareilly, is organising Hindi Fortnight 2026 in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Department of Official Language under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, on the occasion of Hindi Day observed on September 14.
The fortnight-long programme aims to encourage greater use of Hindi in official work and promote interest and creative expression in the language among the institute’s scientists, officers, technical and administrative employees and other personnel.
Dr. K.N. Kandpal, in-charge of the Official Language Section, said a range of linguistic, literary and creative competitions would be organised during Hindi Fortnight 2026. These include Hindi proofreading and writing, Hindi essay competitions, Hindi typing on computers, Hindi translation, Hindi research paper and research poster competitions, pure Hindi speech, debate, poetry recitation, a Hindi poetry conference and a quiz competition.
The competitions are intended to strengthen the use of Hindi in official work while encouraging participants to develop their language skills, creativity, logical thinking and communication abilities. Through research paper and poster competitions, scientists and technical personnel will also be encouraged to present scientific and technical subjects in Hindi.
The institute administration has appealed to all officers and employees to participate enthusiastically in the various programmes and competitions and contribute to the promotion of Hindi as the official language and its wider use in institutional work.
Participants who perform exceptionally well in the competitions will receive prizes and certificates in accordance with the prescribed rules.
Through Hindi Fortnight 2026, ICAR-IVRI is seeking to promote the effective use of Hindi in its scientific, technical and administrative activities while strengthening awareness and appreciation of the official language.
