Bareilly: Preparations for the 137th annual Shri Krishna Maharaj Dadhikando Shobhayatra, organised by the Chandranagar Religious Committee of Bareilly’s Old City, are underway on a war footing, with the grand procession scheduled to be taken out on September 5.
The celebrations will mark the birth of Lord Krishna, with the procession scheduled to begin at 10 am from the Shri Sitaram Temple premises in Chandranagar, Katra Chand Khan.
The temple complex is being given a grand makeover for the occasion. The Bareilly Municipal Corporation has also started work on repairs and arrangements along the procession route, while the electricity department has stepped up preparations to ensure uninterrupted power and adequate arrangements along the route.
The organising committee said all major preparations for the procession have been completed. Apart from local bands, a special band from Maharashtra, Shri Mahakal Jhanz Damru Mandal, will participate in the procession and add to the festive atmosphere.
Responsibilities Assigned for Smooth Procession
An important meeting to finalise the division of responsibilities was held at the Shri Sitaram Temple premises. The meeting was chaired by committee president Dinesh Kumar Gupta and conducted by general secretary Sompal Prajapati.
Committee vice-president and advocate Dinesh Dadda stressed the need for clearly assigning responsibilities to office-bearers to ensure that the procession moves in a disciplined and organised manner.
Following the discussion, a coordinator was assigned to each chariot. The committee will also issue volunteer cards to office-bearers, enabling them to carry out their designated responsibilities during the procession.
The committee said elected representatives from different areas along the procession route have been invited as special members and are expected to extend assistance at their respective levels. The organisers have also personally approached prominent local residents and community representatives seeking their cooperation.
Administration Asked to Ensure Security and Route Arrangements
Committee president Dinesh Kumar Gupta said invitation cards have been sent to prominent citizens and political leaders of the district for the celebrations.
He said preparations for the Shri Krishna Janmotsav and the procession have been completed and appealed to the district administration to extend support for security arrangements, including the deployment of Civil Defence personnel.
The committee has also urged the Municipal Corporation and electricity department to complete necessary arrangements along the procession route, including repairs, maintenance and electrical infrastructure, so that the religious procession can pass without disruption.
The organisers said coordination among the committee, administration, civic authorities, electricity department, local representatives and volunteers would be essential for conducting the 137th procession safely and smoothly.
The meeting was attended by Totaram Gupta, Suresh Diwakar, Pankaj Raj Verma, Shyam Manohar Gupta, Rahul Chaudhary, Sarvesh Gupta, Rajiv Nirbhay, Rajiv Gupta, Rajesh Maurya Bablu, Ramswaroop Chaudhary, Sunil Sagar, Ravi Kishore Saxena, Varun Gupta, Ram Mohan Maurya, Naresh Gupta, Bankelal Diwani, Arun Kumar and priest Umashankar Mishra, among others.
With the temple being decorated, civic agencies working on the route and volunteers taking charge of their respective responsibilities, the Chandranagar Religious Committee is preparing for a grand celebration of Lord Krishna’s birth and the 137th edition of the traditional Dadhikando Shobhayatra.
