- Strict Instructions Issued to Drivers and Conductors for Safe Travel: ARTO Administration
Gonda: Following directions from the Honorable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and guidelines from the District Magistrate, joint inspections were conducted by transport department officials at the UP SRTC Bus Stand and Roadways Depot in Gonda. RTO Administration Officer Rajesh Kumar Maurya, RTO Enforcement Officer R.K. Saroj, and ARTO Officer R.C. Bhartiya conducted inspections of passenger buses along with Roadways RM and ARM officials.
During the inspection, detailed information was provided regarding the free travel facility being made available to women passengers by the Uttar Pradesh government on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
Free Travel for Companions Too
Officers informed women passengers that according to the established arrangement, one accompanying passenger traveling with them will also be provided free travel. Clear instructions were issued to bus conductors to refrain from collecting fares from eligible women passengers and their companions.
Appeal for Respectful Conduct
During the inspection, male passengers were appealed to maintain respect, goodwill, and courteous behavior toward women passengers. Male fellow passengers were explicitly directed not to engage in any rude, abusive, or inappropriate behavior toward women passengers during travel.
Bus drivers and conductors were instructed that if any male passenger misbehaves or acts disrespectfully toward a woman passenger, they should immediately report it to police by dialing 112 and hand over the offending passenger to law enforcement. Officers stated that there will be no compromise whatsoever when it comes to passenger safety and women’s dignity.
Traffic Safety Instructions
During the joint inspection, Roadways bus drivers and conductors were issued strict directives to fully comply with traffic regulations. Drivers were cautioned against over-speeding, operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol, and instructed to drive buses with extreme care and responsibility. Officers also appealed for safe speed, alertness, and passenger safety to be given the highest priority in accident prevention.
Department’s Commitment
Transport department officials stated that providing safe, convenient, and dignified travel to passengers during important festivals like Raksha Bandhan is among the department’s highest priorities. During the inspection, officers also instructed drivers and conductors to ensure strict compliance with government directives.
