Mohanlalganj Police Arrest Rape Accused Within 24 Hours of FIR Registration

Man Held for Allegedly Exploiting Woman on False Promise of Marriage; Sent to Judicial Custody

Lucknow: Acting swiftly on a complaint filed by a woman, the Mohanlalganj Police of the Lucknow Commissionerate arrested a 21-year-old man within 24 hours of the registration of an FIR for allegedly sexually exploiting her on the false promise of marriage.

The arrest was made as part of the ongoing drive against crime being conducted under the directions of the Lucknow Police Commissioner. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Amit Kumar Anand, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rallapalli Basanth Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Mohanlalganj) Rajesh Kumar Singh, and Station House Officer Ram Babu Singh.

Allegations of Deception and Exploitation

According to police officials, the complainant approached Mohanlalganj Police Station on July 4, 2026, and alleged that the accused had established a relationship with her nearly a year ago after promising to marry her.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that the accused claimed to have married her in a temple and subsequently entered into a physical relationship with her on multiple occasions. She further alleged that after she became pregnant, the accused arranged for her to consume medication that resulted in the termination of the pregnancy.

The complainant also alleged that when she later raised the issue of formal marriage, the accused and his family members demanded dowry. According to the complaint, when the demand was not fulfilled, she was subjected to abuse, physical assault, and threats to her life.

FIR Registered and Investigation Initiated

Based on the written complaint, Mohanlalganj Police registered Case No. 246/2026 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections related to sexual exploitation on the false promise of marriage, causing miscarriage, assault, and criminal intimidation.

During the investigation, the victim’s statement was recorded in accordance with legal procedures, and police collected supporting evidence. Officials stated that the allegations were found to have prima facie merit during the preliminary inquiry.

Accused Arrested from Raebareli Road

Given the seriousness of the allegations, a special police team was formed to apprehend the accused at the earliest.

Acting on intelligence inputs, the team arrested Manish Kumar, son of Brajlal, a resident of Bhawakheda village under Mohanlalganj Police Station limits, from the Phulwariya Mod area on Raebareli Road on July 5, 2026.

Police said the accused, who works as a conductor in a private bus, was taken into custody and produced before the court after completion of the required legal formalities. He has subsequently been sent to judicial custody.

Investigation Continues

Police officials stated that further investigation in the case is ongoing and all relevant evidence is being examined. The allegations against the accused are part of an ongoing criminal investigation and remain subject to judicial determination by the court.
