Bareilly: The institutions run by the Shri Ram Murti Smarak (SRMS) Trust celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm on June 21, as faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students participated in yoga sessions and pledged to make yoga an integral part of their daily lives.
The observance was held across all SRMS educational institutions, including SRMS College of Engineering and Technology (CET), SRMS College of Engineering, Technology and Research (CETR), SRMS Nursing College, and SRMS Medical College. Participants performed various yoga postures and breathing exercises aimed at promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and a balanced lifestyle.
At SRMS Medical College, Principal Air Marshal (Retd.) Dr. M.S. Butola led the yoga session, joined by faculty members, staff, and students. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Butola emphasized the importance of yoga in maintaining physical and mental health amid today’s fast-paced and stressful lifestyle. He encouraged everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily routine to achieve overall wellness and inner balance.
At SRMS CET, sports instructors guided participants through a series of yoga asanas and exercises designed to improve flexibility, concentration, and fitness.
Meanwhile, SRMS Nursing College celebrated the occasion under the leadership of Principal Dr. Muthu Maheshwari, where students and staff actively participated in yoga practices and learned about the long-term health benefits of regular exercise and mindfulness.

At SRMS CETR, the yoga session commenced at 5:30 a.m. in the academic block corridor. Students from B.Tech, BBA, BCA, and BHMCT programmes enthusiastically took part in the event. The session included various pranayama techniques such as Bhramari, Bhastrika, Anulom-Vilom, and Sheetali Pranayama, along with deep-breathing exercises and subtle yogic practices aimed at enhancing respiratory health and mental clarity.
Participants also practiced a range of yoga postures, including Padmasana, Sukhasana, Surya Namaskar, Vajrasana, Dhanurasana, Shirshasana, and Shavasana, under expert guidance.
The celebrations highlighted the growing awareness of yoga as a powerful tool for maintaining holistic health and well-being. By actively participating in the programme, students and staff reaffirmed their commitment to adopting yoga as a way of life and promoting its benefits within the wider community.
