Gonda Gears Up for Grand International Yoga Day Celebrations; DM Reviews Preparations

Gonda: Preparations for the celebration of International Yoga Day on June 21 have gathered pace in Gonda district, with the administration planning large-scale events from the district headquarters down to the Gram Panchayat level.

A review meeting chaired by District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan was held at the Collectorate Auditorium to assess arrangements and ensure the successful organization of Yoga Day programmes across the district. Public representatives and officials from various departments attended the meeting.

Addressing the gathering, the District Magistrate said that International Yoga Day is not merely an event but an important opportunity to promote a healthy lifestyle and spread the global message of India’s rich cultural heritage. She directed officials to ensure that Yoga Day programmes are conducted with dignity and grandeur at the Police Lines in Gonda, all tehsil headquarters, block headquarters and Gram Panchayats.

Priyanka Niranjan instructed departments to complete all necessary arrangements well in advance to avoid any inconvenience during the events. Special emphasis was laid on ensuring cleanliness, safe drinking water, medical assistance, security arrangements, uninterrupted power supply, seating facilities and the availability of resources required for yoga practice at all venues.

The District Magistrate also called for extensive publicity and awareness campaigns to encourage maximum public participation. She urged officials to work in close coordination and stated that no negligence in the organization of the event would be tolerated.

Appealing to voluntary organisations, social groups and citizens, she encouraged them to actively participate in the celebrations and contribute to making the occasion a memorable success.

Among those present at the meeting were Prateek Bhushan Singh, Prabhat Verma, Gonda MP and Union Minister of State for External Affairs representative Ramashankar Mishra, Kaiserganj MP representative Sanjeev Singh, Additional District Magistrate Alok Kumar, Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Anil Tiwari, District Ayurveda and Unani Officer Dr. Indrajeet, District Disaster Expert Rajesh Srivastava, BJP representative Manish Dwivedi, office-bearers of the Red Cross Society and Civil Defence, representatives of municipal bodies and officials from various departments.

The district administration expects widespread participation in this year’s celebrations, reflecting the growing popularity of yoga as a means of promoting physical, mental and emotional well-being.
