Blood Donation Camp Organized at CSIR-CIMAP on the Occasion of World Blood Donor Day

Lucknow: On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day (June 14), a Blood Donation Camp was organized today, June 15, 2026, at CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP) under the aegis of the CSIR-CIMAP Staff Club “Mehak”. The camp was conducted in collaboration with Hariom Seva Kendra and Civil Hospital.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi, Director, CSIR-CIMAP, along with Padma Shri awardee, renowned theatre artist and former scientist, Dr. Anil Rastogi.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Trivedi said, “Blood donation is a noble and selfless act of service to humanity. A single unit of donated blood can give a new lease of life to someone in need. On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, I urge all citizens, especially the youth, to come forward to donate blood regularly. Blood donation by a healthy individual is completely safe and reflects our social responsibility and compassion. Let us work together to make blood donation a people’s movement and contribute to saving precious lives.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Anil Rastogi emphasized that blood donation is one of the highest forms of humanitarian service. Encouraging citizens to donate blood regularly, he remarked that “Blood donation is the greatest donation,” and every healthy individual should actively participate in this noble cause.

During the programme, Dr. Praveen Srivastava and Shri Uttam Kumar Jha shared their personal experiences related to blood donation and highlighted its social significance. They emphasized that the timely availability of blood can save countless lives and that voluntary blood donation is a reflection of society’s compassion and collective responsibility.

Dr. Anil Kumar Maurya, Convener of the Blood Donation Camp and General Secretary of the Staff Club “Mehak”, informed that scientists, research scholars, officers, and staff members of the institute enthusiastically participated in the camp, resulting in the collection of 23 units of blood.

The programme also conveyed the message of promoting public awareness about blood donation, ensuring the availability of safe blood, and fostering the values of service, cooperation, and humanitarian commitment in society. The organizers expressed their gratitude to all blood donors, collaborating institutions, and participants, and reaffirmed their commitment to organizing similar socially relevant initiatives in the future.
