Uttar Pradesh Targets Record Kharif 2026 Output, Focus on Doubling Farmers’ Income

Ayodhya/Gonda: A divisional-level Kharif Productivity Conference (2026) was organized at Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology in Ayodhya, bringing together officials from Ayodhya and Devipatan divisions to chart a roadmap for record agricultural production and enhanced farmers’ income in the upcoming Kharif season.

The conference focused on improving productivity of Kharif crops, ensuring timely availability of seeds and fertilizers, strengthening irrigation management, and promoting modern scientific farming techniques. The event also set an ambitious target of achieving record production in Kharif 2026 while significantly increasing farmers’ earnings.

The programme was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Agriculture, Agricultural Education and Research Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, who also visited the agricultural exhibition and interacted with farmers. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to doubling farmers’ income and making agriculture more profitable, urging farmers to adopt scientific farming practices, improved seeds, and modern technologies.

Emphasis on Organic and Sustainable Farming

In his address, Agriculture Principal Secretary highlighted the need to reduce overdependence on chemical fertilizers and promote green manure and organic alternatives for sustainable soil health. He emphasized the use of cow dung manure, vermicompost, and other bio-based inputs to maintain soil fertility and improve crop quality.

He also announced that farmer registry would be mandatory in the future to avail benefits of any government agriculture scheme, subsidy, or facility. He urged farmers to complete their registration on time and directed officials to launch awareness campaigns to ensure no eligible farmer is left out.

Government’s Focus on Farmers’ Welfare

Devipatan Division Commissioner Durga Shakti Nagpal stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, extensive efforts have been made to strengthen the agriculture sector, positively impacting nearly 18 lakh farmers in the Devipatan region.

She said that continuous monitoring and guidance from senior agriculture officials are ensuring effective implementation of government schemes. The administration is prioritizing timely supply of quality seeds, fertilizers, and irrigation facilities, with coordinated efforts across departments at the divisional level.

She further added that special preparations are being made for flood-prone areas to protect crops and farmers’ livelihoods. Strong inter-departmental coordination among agriculture, irrigation, electricity, and revenue departments is being ensured for quick resolution of farmers’ issues.

The Commissioner also emphasized the promotion of modern agricultural practices such as drone technology, soil testing, and scientific farming, along with regular reviews at block and tehsil levels to ensure benefits of schemes reach every eligible farmer.

Dignitaries Present

The event was attended by Ayodhya Division Commissioner Rajesh Kumar, University Vice Chancellor P.S. Pramanik, Agriculture Director Pankaj Tripathi, Uttar Pradesh Seed Development Corporation Director T.M. Tripathi, and Additional Agriculture Defence Director Ashutosh Mishra, along with a large number of farmers and departmental officials.

The conference concluded with a collective resolve to achieve higher productivity, strengthen farmer welfare initiatives, and ensure sustainable agricultural growth in the state.
