Lucknow: The ninth edition of the Farida Abraham Memorial Debate & Quiz concluded on May 18, 2026 with a grand finale marked by sharp intellect, spirited arguments, and outstanding performances from participating schools across the country.
The evening’s Chief Guest was Bhupendra Chaubey, a distinguished journalist known for his extensive work in anchoring, editing, prime-time debates, interviews, and election coverage with NDTV and CNN-News18.
The final round of the quiz competition witnessed an intense battle among eight finalist teams representing La Martiniere Girls’ College, Sunbeam Varuna, La Martiniere College, The Bishop’s Co-Ed School, Wynberg Allen School, Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Sunbeam Lahartara and Calcutta Boys’ School. The participants displayed remarkable knowledge, presence of mind, and competitive spirit throughout the contest.
Sunbeam Lahartara emerged as the winner of the quiz competition with an exceptional performance, while Karma Tsewang Dorje received the Most Promising Quizzer award for his impressive display of talent and analytical skills.

The excitement continued with the much-anticipated debate finale on the motion, “This House believes that Democracy counts Heads not Minds — and that is its Greatest Betrayal!” The debate sparked thought-provoking discussions as participants presented compelling arguments with confidence, clarity, and conviction, embodying the true spirit of competitive debating.
The Best Speaker and Overall Best Speaker awards were bagged by Wangtshen Gyalpo Bhutiya of St. Joseph’s School North Point, whose team also emerged as the overall winner of the debate segment of the ninth edition of the Farida Abraham Memorial Debate & Quiz. Adrish Hossain was honoured with the title of Overall Most Promising Speaker for his commendable performance.
