Bareilly, May 5: A grand Shiksha Mitra Felicitation Ceremony was organised at the Vikas Bhawan Auditorium to mark the recent increase in honorarium for Shiksha Mitras. The event was held in the presence of several senior leaders and officials.
Among those present were Forest and Environment Minister Dr Arun Kumar, MP Chhatrapal Gangwar, District Panchayat Chairperson Rashmi Patel, MLCs Bahoran Lal Maurya and Kunwar Maharaj Singh, along with MLAs Dr DC Verma and Dr MP Arya. BJP Metropolitan President Adhir Saxena was also in attendance.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Dr Arun Kumar termed the occasion as “auspicious,” noting that the state government has increased the honorarium of Shiksha Mitras from ₹10,000 to ₹18,000. He urged educators to focus on imparting quality education and strong values to students, emphasizing that the future of the nation depends on them.
Highlighting reforms in the education sector, the minister said the government has significantly improved school infrastructure by providing toilets, furniture, and smart classrooms. He added that enrolment in basic schools has increased due to the collective efforts of teachers and the administration.
He further pointed out that digital labs have been introduced in schools, teachers have been provided tablets, and financial assistance for uniforms, shoes, socks, and school bags is being directly transferred to parents’ bank accounts. Free textbooks and mid-day meals are also being ensured for students. Additionally, Shiksha Mitras have been brought under a cashless healthcare scheme, he said.

During the programme, public representatives and officials distributed symbolic cheques to Shiksha Mitras to mark the honorarium hike.
The event was also attended by Divisional Commissioner Bhupendra S Chaudhary, District Magistrate Avinash Singh, Chief Development Officer Devyani, District Inspector of Schools Ajit Singh, and Basic Shiksha Adhikari Dr Vineeta, along with other officials.
The ceremony was seen as a morale-boosting initiative for Shiksha Mitras and a step towards strengthening the primary education system in the state.
