Bareilly | District Magistrate Avinash Singh chaired a key review meeting at the Collectorate auditorium to strengthen arrangements at cow shelters and ensure the availability of fodder for stray cattle across the district.
During the meeting, the District Magistrate directed officials to launch an intensive campaign from May 1 to ensure adequate storage of dry fodder (bhusa) and green feed at all cow shelters. Emphasising proactive planning, he noted that fodder prices are currently low but are likely to rise significantly during the upcoming monsoon season. “Early procurement and storage will help avoid shortages and financial strain later,” he said.
Officials were also instructed to expedite the process of freeing designated grazing lands (gochar land) from encroachments to support sustainable cattle management.
Targets for fodder collection were assigned to Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars, Block Development Officers, Lekhpals, Amins, and other concerned departments, including the Deputy RMO, District Supply Officer, and District Panchayati Raj Officer.

The Chief Veterinary Officer was directed to ensure the printing and distribution of official receipts to streamline the procurement process.
The meeting was attended by Chief Development Officer Devyani, the Chief Veterinary Officer, Sub-Divisional Magistrates of Faridpur and Meerganj, along with other district officials, who discussed implementation strategies to ensure smooth execution of the campaign.
The initiative aims to improve the upkeep of stray cattle while strengthening rural infrastructure and resource management in the district.
