Mumbai/ Lucknow: The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are gearing up for TATA IPL 2026 with a renewed focus on team cohesion, strengthened domestic pace attack, and a determination to win their maiden title. Speaking on JioStar’s ‘IPL Today Live’, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka and Global Director of Cricket Tom Moody outlined the franchise’s plans and key improvements ahead of the new season.
Moody highlighted the emphasis on building a strong Indian fast-bowling unit, noting that past seasons revealed fitness gaps in some players.
“We’ve addressed areas that needed improvement, including bringing in Mohammed Shami to lead our domestic pace attack and introducing a new medical team. Our fast bowlers are now in prime condition, giving us healthy selection dilemmas, which is exactly what you want heading into the season.”
On handling the pressure of securing a first title, Moody added:
“Professional cricket is all about embracing pressure. The squad now has quiet confidence and is ready for the challenges ahead.”
Owner Sanjiv Goenka reflected on lessons learned from last season and the squad’s evolution:

“Last season, we had impressive individual performances despite injuries, but we realised we lacked a strong bowling core. This season, we’ve built a robust domestic Indian bowling unit and focused on performing as a team rather than relying on individuals. The squad now has everything needed to compete at the highest level.”
Goenka also spoke on the importance of winning to establish LSG’s identity:
“A team’s true identity comes from winning. While we’ve made the playoffs twice, the ultimate goal is lifting the trophy. Winning our first title will define who we are and earn the respect every champion deserves.”
With tactical upgrades, a balanced squad, and a clear focus on teamwork, LSG are determined to convert potential into performance in IPL 2026.
