Nehru Enclave Scheme in Gomti Nagar Handed Over to Municipal Corporation

Lucknow: The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has officially handed over the Nehru Enclave housing scheme in Gomti Nagar to the Lucknow Municipal Corporation, transferring responsibility for maintenance of civic infrastructure to the civic body.

With this transition, the Municipal Corporation will now oversee the upkeep of essential services in the area, including roads, drainage systems, parks, and street lighting.

LDA Vice-Chairman Prathamesh Kumar stated that the Nehru Enclave scheme, developed by the authority under the Paper Mill Ward, had been maintained by LDA since its inception. Following directives to transfer maintenance responsibilities, a joint team of LDA and the Municipal Corporation conducted a detailed site inspection.

During the assessment, it was estimated that ₹12 crore would be required to complete the remaining infrastructure works. As part of the handover process, LDA approved the proposal and transferred the full amount to the Municipal Corporation to facilitate the completion of pending works.

The Vice-Chairman added that from now on, all civic infrastructure—including roads, drains, sewer lines, parks, and streetlights—will be managed by the Municipal Corporation, ensuring better coordination and sustained maintenance.

The move is expected to streamline civic services and directly benefit nearly 50,000 residents living in Nehru Enclave, improving the overall quality of urban infrastructure and service delivery in the area.
