63 Couples Tie the Knot at Mass Wedding Ceremony in Gonda Under CM Scheme

Gonda: A large-scale mass wedding ceremony was successfully organized under the Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage Scheme at the campus of Hakikulla Chaudhary Mahavidyalaya in Gonda.

The event witnessed the participation of hundreds of families, as 163 couples were married with full traditional rituals, out of a total of 193 registered pairs from various development blocks and urban local bodies, including municipal councils and nagar panchayats. Notably, two marriages were solemnized as per Islamic traditions, with the nikah conducted by Maulvi Sahebe Alam, reflecting the inclusive nature of the scheme.

Dignitaries Bless Newlyweds

The event was attended by several prominent officials and public representatives, including MLA Gaura Prabhat Verma, District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Mankapur, Block Pramukhs of Babhna Jot and Chhapia, and District Social Welfare Officer Satyaprakash Singh.

They extended their gratitude and blessings to the newlywed couples, wishing them a happy and prosperous married life.

Financial Support and Essential Gifts

Addressing the gathering, officials highlighted that the scheme ensures that no poor family faces difficulty in marrying off their daughters, regardless of caste or religion. Under the initiative, the government provides ₹60,000 financial assistance per couple, directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

In addition to financial aid, couples were also provided with essential household items, including:

  • Silver anklets and toe rings
  • Steel dinner set
  • 5-litre pressure cooker
  • Clothing for both bride and groom
  • Wall clock and beauty kit

These items are intended to help couples begin their married life with basic necessities.

Inclusive Welfare Initiative

The Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage Scheme has emerged as a key welfare initiative aimed at supporting economically weaker sections. By organizing such events at the district level, the administration ensures transparency, dignity, and ease for beneficiaries.

Officials reiterated that the scheme reflects the government’s commitment to social welfare and inclusive development, ensuring that financial constraints do not become a barrier to marriage.

Successful organizing with Community Participation

The event saw active participation from local people’s representatives and administrative officials, including Block Development Officers and other stakeholders, ensuring smooth coordination and execution.

The successful planning of the mass wedding ceremony once again underlined the impact of community-driven welfare programs in improving the lives of citizens at the grassroots level.
