Lucknow: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Lucknow Police Commissionerate organised a grand felicitation ceremony to honour the courage, dedication and exemplary service of women police personnel. A total of 37 women officers and staff members were awarded commendation certificates for their outstanding contributions in maintaining law and order, crime control and public service.
The event was held at the seminar hall of the Reserve Police Lines in Lucknow and celebrated the spirit of women who have set remarkable examples through their commitment and bravery in policing.
The ceremony was conducted in the presence of Aparna Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime/Headquarters), whose dignified presence added significance to the programme. During the event, Mamta Rani, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Women Crime), presented a memento to Aparna Kumar in recognition of her leadership and contribution.
The programme was organised under the inspiration of Amrendra Kumar Sengar, Police Commissioner of Lucknow. The event highlighted the commitment of the police department towards recognising the dedication of women officers who have played a crucial role in ensuring public safety and justice.
During the ceremony, several women police officers from different police stations were honoured for their exemplary work. Among them were Manju Pandey, In-charge Inspector of the Hazratganj Women Police Station, and Gurpreet Kaur, Station House Officer of Cantt Police Station, Lucknow. They were recognised for their significant role in crime control, courageous operations and community service.
Officials also praised the efforts of women personnel who played a vital role in preventive actions such as district-ban proceedings, monitoring of history-sheeters and other crime-control measures. Special appreciation was given to women officers working at women help desks who resolved hundreds of complaints and provided timely assistance and counselling to victims of harassment and domestic violence.

Among the notable achievements, women officers efficiently handled investigations based on merit and evidence, while personnel posted at help desks resolved a large number of complaints, ensuring swift justice for affected women. Some officers were also commended for initiating legal action against habitual offenders, including externment proceedings and maintaining records of history-sheeters.
The event also highlighted the 2026 theme of International Women’s Day — “Rights. Equality. Empowerment for All Women and Girls.” The theme emphasises the need to move beyond promises and ensure justice and concrete action so that every woman can experience safety, dignity and equal opportunities.
During the programme, the commitment of the Government of Uttar Pradesh’s Mission Shakti initiative was reiterated, focusing on women’s safety, dignity and self-reliance.
Addressing the gathering, Joint Commissioner Aparna Kumar said that women police personnel have become a strong pillar of the department and a symbol of courage and dedication for society. She emphasised that the honour bestowed upon them was not only recognition of their past achievements but also a source of motivation for future service.
The ceremony concluded with a renewed pledge by the Lucknow Police to continue strengthening women’s safety and empowerment while encouraging women officers to keep inspiring society through their bravery and dedication to duty.
