Akhilesh Yadav Slams Union Budget: ‘No Mention of People, No Concern for Inflation’

Lucknow: Following the presentation of the Union Budget, Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav launched a sharp attack on the Modi government, citing the decline in the stock market as evidence of public and investor disappointment. He remarked, “We had already said that the real question is not when the market will open, but how much further it will fall.”

‘BJP’s Invisible Ledger of Corruption’

In a statement shared on his social media accounts, Akhilesh Yadav said that when the public has no expectations from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, it is natural that its budget also fails to inspire confidence. He alleged that every BJP budget is effectively a “1/20 budget,” claiming it is designed to benefit only five percent of the population.

He accused the ruling party of using the budget as a tool to secure commissions and favour its close associates, terming it the “invisible ledger of BJP corruption.” According to him, the budget document reflects vested interests rather than national priorities.

‘No Relief for Common People, No Check on Inflation’

The SP chief further alleged that the budget makes no mention of the common people and shows no concern for their hardships. Targeting the government over rising prices, he said that despite unchecked inflation, the public has been given no tax relief, which he described as “tax exploitation.”

He also claimed that while concessions have been extended to big businesses and the affluent for trade and travel, ordinary citizens and youth struggling with unemployment have been left disappointed. “The plate of hopes of the common people and jobless youth remains empty,” he said.

Calling the budget “disappointing and condemnable,” Akhilesh Yadav asserted that it is completely disconnected from the needs of the common man and fails to address pressing issues such as inflation, unemployment, and economic inequality.
