Lucknow: As part of a humanitarian initiative to provide relief during the winter season, the Inner Wheel Club organised a blanket distribution programme for patient attendants residing at the Ren Basera near the Apex Trauma Centre at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS). Around 30 blankets were distributed at 12 noon, offering much-needed warmth and comfort to attendants staying at the shelter during the cold spell.
The community service programme was attended by Prof. R. Harsvardhan, Additional Medical Superintendent, Apex Trauma Centre and Medical Superintendent, SGPGIMS, along with Dr. Minakshi Singh, President of the Inner Wheel Club, and 10 members of the club. Faculty members, hospital staff and representatives of the Inner Wheel Club were also present on the occasion.
Welcoming the gathering, Prof. R. Harsvardhan highlighted the Apex Trauma Centre’s commitment to patient welfare beyond clinical care and emphasised the importance of community participation in addressing the needs of patient attendants and other vulnerable sections of society.
Members of the Inner Wheel Club reiterated the organisation’s core philosophy, stating that service to society remains its foremost duty and that even small acts of kindness can bring significant relief to those in need. Dr. Minakshi Singh said the blanket distribution reflected the club’s continued dedication to social service and would provide essential comfort to attendants staying at the Ren Basera.
The Inner Wheel Club, one of the world’s largest voluntary women’s service organisations, is dedicated to promoting friendship, service and social welfare through various community outreach and humanitarian initiatives. The programme was coordinated by the Central Control Room, Department of Hospital Administration, SGPGIMS, under the overall guidance of Prof. R. K. Dhiman, Director, SGPGIMS.
