Lucknow: A deeply evocative literary session titled “Aangan Ki Awaazein” brought together noted writers and poets Dr. Alka Singh, Dr. Amita Dubey, Toshni and Namita Sachan, offering the audience an intense exploration of expression, memory and emotional resilience through poetry and personal narratives.
The session was opened by Dr. Amita Dubey, who spoke about igniting a “spark of warmth in winter,” symbolising the role of literature in sustaining inner fire during difficult times. Sharing her own creative journey, she reflected on how the traditional aangan—once a space of shared emotions and voices—is gradually disappearing, giving way to towering concrete structures. She emphasised that in any creative work, expression plays the most vital role, a thought that resonated strongly throughout the discussion.
All four writers shared their reflections on the courage required to express oneself, agreeing that true creativity demands the willingness to take risks. Through their words, they illustrated how themes of separation and union in love reveal the deepest layers of human sensitivity and emotional truth.
Namita Sachan captivated the audience with the recitation of her poem “Mujhe Darao Mat,” a powerful composition that journeys from the threshold of the home to the sacred tulsi plant, symbolising fear, hope and inner strength. Her imagery of an unseen figure carrying a lamp and slowly becoming visible through poetry left a lasting impression on listeners.

The session concluded on a deeply emotional note with Toshni’s soulful expression, as she evoked memories of a grandmother’s hearth and the innocence of a child’s spirit. Her words filled the hall with nostalgia and tenderness, leaving the audience immersed in reflection. She ended by reinforcing the importance of recognising, nurturing and cherishing one’s art.
The session stood as a celebration of women’s voices, emotional honesty and the enduring power of literary expression, leaving the audience inspired and contemplative.
