The Third Brig Justice DM Sen Annual Memorial Lecture 2025 on Seventy- five years of the Army Act – evolution, endurance and the future of military justice in a Swarním Bharat was organised by Headquarters Central Command at Lucknow on 7 December 2025. The Lecture series commemorates the first Indian Judge Advocate General of the Indian Army, Brig Justice Dibyendu Mohan Sen who was a trailblazer in the legislative history of military law in India.
The event was graced by Hon’ble Mr Justice Rajesh Bindal, Judge, Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the Chief Guest, who delivered the keynote address on the endurance and future of military justice. Brig Sachidananda Prabhu, DyJAG Central Command delivered opening address highlighting the remarkable life of Brig Justice DM Sen and set the tone for the roceedings. Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, GOC-in-C, Central Command addressed the athering on a Commander’s perspective of military law. Hon’ble Mr Justice Rajendra Menon, Chairperson, Armed Forces Tribunal highlighted the transformation of litigation as a mainstay of military justice system. Lt Gen Raj Shukla, (Retd), Member, UPSC, enlightened the august audience on the impact of military law on international armed conflict and Maj Gen Sandeep Kumar, JAG (Army) delivered an erudite lecture on the course charted by the Army Act in the last 75 years

The addresses by eminent jurists was followed by paper presentation of officers of the JAG Corps on the juxtaposition of soldier between the constitutional values and rigour of Army Act. Maj M Anjana, an officer of HQ Central Command presented her paper on the need for enabling victim in the Army, whilst Maj Payal Tripathi, an officer of IHQ MoD (Army) presented a paper on morality and armed forces.
The event was attended by esleemed dignitaries including Hon’ble judges of Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench and the bar, Members of the AFT bench and bar, Lucknow, academicians and Address of JAG (Army), velerans. The Event concluded with the Closing The lecture was a celebration of seventy-five years of the Army Act mirroring Swarnim Bharaf’s transformation from a post-colonial state to a robust constitutional democracy reaffirming the role of the soldier as not only defenders of the nation’s borders but also upholders of its moral and constitutional boundaries.
