Constitution Day Celebrated at Lucknow University with Visit from Shravasti School Students

Lucknow: Lucknow University marked Constitution Day with a special programme that brought 70 students from Rajkiya High School Lakhia–Beniganj, Shravasti, to the campus. Accompanied by their teachers, the students visited the Constitution Site, where Prof. Yogendra Pratap Singh from the Hindi Department explained key constitutional concepts and important dates associated with India’s democratic framework.

Lucknow University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Manuka Khanna interacted with the young visitors and, in her address, highlighted the significance of November 26, January 26, and the celebration of Republic Day. The students impressed everyone with their recitation of the Preamble, which they knew by heart. Led by three students, the entire group—along with university teachers, staff, and students—participated in a collective reading. The dedication of the school’s teachers was visibly reflected in the children’s preparation.

The Departments of Political Science and Law at the university’s second campus also celebrated Constitution Day with enthusiastic participation from students.

The visiting students were later taken to the Tagore Library, where they viewed the original copy of the Indian Constitution, further sparking their curiosity about modern Indian history.

The programme concluded with a call to continue celebrating Constitution Day in the future, reaffirming its importance in strengthening democratic values. The event not only highlighted the spirit of the Constitution but also helped young students understand their rights and duties as citizens. The programme ended with the national anthem, a group photograph, and refreshments for the children. The event was organised under the guidance of Prof. Anchal Srivastava, Director, Sanskritiki.
