Lucknow | The cultural capital of Uttar Pradesh witnessed a dazzling display of style and creativity as ‘Riwaayat Fashion Week 2025’ opened in Lucknow with the theme “Taleem – A Celebration of Knowledge and Craft.” The three-day festival dedicated to India’s art, culture, and fashion heritage began with a grand inaugural show at Avadh Shilpgram, setting the tone for an elegant fusion of tradition and modernity.
A total of 40 models—including 32 female and 8 male models from Delhi, Mumbai, and Lucknow—graced the ramp on the opening day, captivating the audience with their poise and panache.
Grand Inauguration and Chief Guests
The event was inaugurated by Rakesh Sachan, Cabinet Minister for MSME, Khadi, Village Industries and Sericulture, Government of Uttar Pradesh. Notable guests included Rashmi Bedi, CEO and Founder of MyDream Global; Janak Bedi, Founder; and Apoorva Chauhan, Brand Ambassador of Riwaayat Fashion Week and Miss International Diva India 2025.
Minister Sachan, in his address, said, “Events like Riwaayat strengthen our cultural roots and bring Indian craftsmanship to the global stage while promoting the ‘Vocal for Local’ vision.”
Designer Showcase – Tradition Meets Modern Glamour
Rocky Star’s collection set the tone for the evening with a breathtaking blend of traditional grace and contemporary flair. Featuring pastel shades, flowing silhouettes, and intricate drapes, his designs evoked the charm of a fairytale. The airy fabrics, precision cuts, and fine detailing reflected an effortless union of comfort and couture rooted in Indian heritage.
Rajdeep Ranawat presented his festive and resortwear collection “Moroccan Kabsa,” an exquisite fusion of Uzbeki ikat motifs and Moroccan royal aesthetics. The collection featured rich silk textures, fine embroidery, and elegant prints that celebrated the global spirit of Indian design.
Vaishali Kumar’s khadi-based collection stood out for its simplicity and eco-conscious ethos. Crafted by weavers from Bijnor, her designs highlighted the timeless beauty of khadi and India’s handloom legacy. Reflecting the “Vocal for Local” movement, her collection symbolized sustainable fashion rooted in tradition and environmental responsibility.

Music and Dance: A Fusion of Art and Soul
The evening was not only about fashion but also a cultural celebration. Singer Manoj Kumar from Lucknow mesmerized the audience with a soulful rendition of Raag Shuddh Saarang, blending melody with emotion.
A classical Kathak performance by Dr. Vikas Awasthi and his troupe showcased the rich rhythm and grace of the Lucknow gharana. Their sequence featured devotional pieces, intricate footwork, and swift rhythmic patterns, earning loud applause from the audience.

Apoorva Chauhan, brand ambassador of Riwaayat Fashion Week, said, “Taleem is the foundation of every art form—a space that encourages learning, experimenting, and evolving. Today’s show is a reflection of the creativity and confidence of India’s new generation.”

The ramp turned into a vibrant stage where designers brought their creative visions to life—Rajdeep Ranawat with his global Indian flair, and Vaishali Kumar with her contemporary interpretation of khadi. Each collection symbolized a dialogue between India’s glorious textile heritage and its forward-looking fashion sensibilities.
