Lucknow: A Cervical Cancer Awareness Program was successfully organized at Lulu Mall, Lucknow, in collaboration with Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute (KSSSCI). The event aimed to raise awareness about cervical cancer, which remains one of the most common cancers affecting women.
Every eight minutes, India loses one woman to cervical cancer, yet the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared it a preventable and eliminable cancer. WHO has set a global goal to eliminate cervical cancer by 2030, which can be achieved through:
Vaccination of girls between 9 to 26 years, and Screening of women between 30 to 60 years
Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute reaffirmed its commitment to this global cause, emphasizing that awareness, early screening, and vaccination are key to eliminating the disease.
The awareness event at Lulu Mall combined education with engagement through Nukkad Natak (street play), quiz competitions, games, and gift distributions, making learning both interactive and impactful.

At the event, Prof. M.L. Bhatt, Director, KSSSCI, Dr. Sabuhi Qureshi, Professor and Head, Department of Gynaecological Oncology, Prof. Vijendra Kumar, Dr. Varun Vijay, and Dr. Saumya Gupta, along with other senior doctors from the institute, were also present. They interacted with the audience, addressed queries, and emphasized the importance of timely vaccination and regular screening for women’s health.
