Vishwa Hindu Parishad Celebrates Foundation Day in Gonda
GONDA: The Gonda unit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) celebrated the organisation’s Foundation Day with enthusiasm at the Town Hall in Gonda on Saturday. The event was organised by the district committee and attended by a large number of office-bearers and workers.
Gajendra, organisational secretary of the Awadh region, was the chief guest, while Dr Raj Bahadur Singh, head of the Military Science Department at LBS College, Gonda, presided over the programme.
The ceremony began with the lighting of lamps and floral offerings before portraits of Bharat Mata and Lord Ram, followed by the singing of Vande Mataram.
Addressing the gathering, Gajendra highlighted the importance of Indian culture and the traditional family system. He said Indian civilisation has always provided a way of life based on moral values and ethical principles.
Referring to episodes from the lives of Savitri, Lord Ram, Lakshman, Bharat and Kaikeyi, he explained the significance of family relationships and values. He said India enjoyed a distinctive position in the world when its strong family system remained influential, adding that the country had also played an important role in education, trade and technology.
Gajendra said Indian culture conveys the message of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” — the world is one family. He also advocated promoting cow-based agriculture, claiming that excessive use of chemical fertilisers has contributed to the rise of several diseases.
He further expressed concern over population control, religious conversion and the abduction of women, describing these as issues requiring attention.
