Lucknow – In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Kaiserbagh police in Lucknow have arrested two notorious smugglers and recovered a large quantity of illegal cannabis from their possession.
Acting under the leadership of Station House Officer (SHO) Anjani Kumar, police apprehended Maku Sonkar and Nancy Sonkar near the vegetable market on Latouche Road in the Kaiserbagh area. The operation led to the seizure of 6.950 kilograms of ganja along with an e-rickshaw (UP 32 XN 0395) used in the trafficking.
During the search, police found several bundles of contraband—1.750 kg, 1.170 kg, 1.0 kg, 1.575 kg, 0.600 kg—out of which 100 grams of illegal cannabis were recovered separately from the fourth bundle.

The arrests were made by a dedicated police team comprising SI Seema Yadav, SI Arvind Kumar, SI Yogesh Chandel, SI Vishal Singh, SI Rajesh Yadav, Head Constable Akhilesh Kumar Tripathi, and constables Anuj Kumar, Anish Ahmed, Kuldeep Rathore, Anish Verma, Shyamu, and Saurabh Kumar.
Police officials said that further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and identify other members of the trafficking network.
