Student Leaders, Traders Join Congress in Lucknow, Inspired by Party’s Policies

Lucknow — In a significant political development, several prominent student leaders from Allahabad University and local traders officially joined the Congress Party in Lucknow today, expressing disillusionment with the BJP and aligning with the vision of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

The induction ceremony was presided over by Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai, who welcomed the new entrants and administered their formal membership into the party fold.

Among those who joined the Congress were:

  • Himanshu Pandey, former General Secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP)
  • Vikrant Singh, ABVP State Executive Member
  • Devesh Singh Yadav, leader of the Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha
  • Swapnil Chaurasia, former Zila Panchayat candidate
  • Prominent traders Ram Sumer and Ram Sneh ‘Guddu’ Yadav
All were accompanied by their supporters in what party insiders are calling a “show of growing youth confidence in Congress.”

“Youth Are Drifting Away From BJP”: Ajay Rai

Speaking at the event, Ajay Rai said the wave of young leaders joining Congress signals a growing shift in public sentiment.

“The youth are disillusioned with the BJP. They see Congress as the only party that understands their struggles and aspirations. The next assembly elections will prove this when young voters bring Congress back to power,” Rai said.

Youth Congress Slams Agnipath Scheme

Ankit Tiwari, acting president of Youth Congress (Central Zone), lambasted the BJP government for “betraying” the youth.

“Educated youth are roaming jobless while the government brings in schemes like Agniveer that mock their dreams. It’s time to fight back,” Tiwari said, calling upon students and unemployed youth to join the movement against the ruling government.

The Congress Party sees this wave of student and trader inclusion as a positive sign ahead of the upcoming elections, banking on grassroots mobilization and growing dissatisfaction with current policies.
