Zaheer Khan upset over LSG opener @ Ekana

Lucknow: The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are unhappy with their home conditions after an eight-wicket loss in their first home game. Coach Zaheer Khan expressed frustration, suggesting the pitch seemed curated for the opposition.

Zaheer stated, “It felt like Punjab had their own curator. Teams expect a slight home advantage, but that wasn’t the case.” He emphasized the disappointment among Lucknow fans and hoped it was a one-off issue.

LSG, dealing with injuries in their pace attack, might have preferred a spin-friendly pitch. However, Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) pace trio—Arshdeep Singh, Lockie Ferguson, and Marco Jansen—dominated, taking 5/112 in 13 overs.

LSG captain Rishabh Pant admitted they expected a slower surface, prompting the selection of spinner M Siddharth over seamer Prince Yadav.

This issue isn’t unique to LSG—Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders have also raised concerns over unpredictable home conditions, highlighting the broader debate on pitch control in the IPL.
