Uttar Pradesh Emerging as a Major IT and Electronics Hub

Lucknow: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is witnessing unprecedented growth in the IT and electronics sector. With pro-business policies and investment incentives, the state is rapidly transforming into a technological revolution hub. So far, the Uttar Pradesh Electronics Manufacturing Policy-2017 has attracted an investment of ₹23,203 crore, while the IT Policy-2017 has brought in ₹7,004 crore. This investment is not only creating new employment opportunities but is also playing a crucial role in establishing Uttar Pradesh as a global electronics hub.

Uttar Pradesh Emerging as a Data Center Hub

With amendments in the state’s Data Center Policy, investments worth ₹30,000 crore are being utilized to develop eight data center parks. This will strengthen the state’s digital infrastructure, with a target capacity of 900 megawatts. The initiative aims to position Uttar Pradesh as one of India’s leading data center hubs, attracting major technology investors while improving the accessibility and quality of digital services in the state.

Major Push in Semiconductor Sector

To attract global semiconductor investors, the state government has introduced the Uttar Pradesh Semiconductor Policy-2024, making it the fourth Indian state to establish dedicated provisions for semiconductor units. This move is expected to play a crucial role in India’s self-reliance in semiconductor manufacturing and help Uttar Pradesh become a key player in this sector.

Centers of Excellence to Foster Innovation

To boost research and innovation in advanced technologies, the state is setting up eight state-of-the-art Centers of Excellence (CoEs). The first such center, focusing on medical electronics, is already operational at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS). Additionally, IIT Kanpur’s Noida campus has established a Center of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence, while IIT Kanpur itself has launched a Drone Center of Excellence. These centers are expected to promote technological research and support startups.

With strategic policies and an investment-friendly environment, Uttar Pradesh has become one of the leading states in India’s IT and electronics sector. Through initiatives like data center parks, the semiconductor policy, and centers of excellence, the state is making rapid progress in technology and innovation. This will generate new employment opportunities and contribute significantly to strengthening India’s Digital Mission.

No longer just a consumer state, Uttar Pradesh is now emerging as a major hub for digital and electronics manufacturing. This initiative is set to give a major boost to the state’s economy and position Uttar Pradesh as the digital engine of ‘New India’.
